Welcome to the 1000lb Club, Henry & Dan! 💪
What is this club you might well ask… well it means that some peppy souls managed to lift a total of 1000lbs (or 453.592kg to be precise) with their 1RM for back squat, bench press and deadlift in one session.
Here’s the official rules of joining the club, should you fancy giving it a go:
To become a member of the 1000lb club, an individual’s one-repetition maximum (1RM) lifts in three specific exercises must add up to a total of at least 1000 pounds (approximately 453.59 kilograms). The three lifts typically included are:
- Barbell Back Squat
- Barbell Bench Press
- Barbell Deadlift
For example, if someone’s 1RM lifts are 400 pounds in the back squat, 300 pounds in the bench press, and 350 pounds in the deadlift, their combined total would be 1050 pounds, making them a member of the 1000lb club.
The 1000lb club is a challenging goal for many weightlifters and is often seen as a significant accomplishment in the strength training community. It requires dedication, hard work, and consistent training to achieve this level of strength.
July sees Henry E and Dan F join the lofty ranks of those that have graduated into the 1000lb Club at The Engine House Gym – could you be next?
